Day Twenty One: Your views on the cis-gendered community

*cisgender — I hate adding an -ed ending on -gender words.  No one should be saying transgendered.  It implies there’s a past tense in being trans, which is not the case.  Likewise, there’s no past tense in being cisgender.  No one says femaled or maled.  Many people, even within the trans community use the word transgendered, so I’m sure people have different views but this is where I stand.

As for my views on the cisgender community… Well, my partner, most of friends, family, coworkers, peers, classmates, professors, health care providers, neighbors, and general community members are cisgender so I really love and depend on the cisgender community.  Statistically speaking, there are probably more cisgender individuals advocating and fighting for transgender equality than transgender individuals.  I mean, I know of at least 20 people in my inner circle who advocate for trans* rights and aren’t trans themselves.

However, there are some cisgender individuals out there who are down right douchebags.  There are also some trans* individuals out there who are down right douchebags… but again, statistically speaking, there are loads more cisgender douchebags out there.
